| Name | Faction Grinding and Kill On Sight |
| Category | General |
You'll notice that every single action you do in Vanguard is being logged in your Chat and Combat window. One interesting thing you'd find is the faction you gain after killing some mobs. There are organizations throughout Telon in which you would be able to interact with. Some of these organizations can be allies and some are enemies. Your involvement with different factions usually influence the quests being offered to you and your overall standing in Telon.
Now, what are the implications of having a "low" faction standing in some of the known Factions in the game? Mainly, you'd be marked as a Kill On Sight or KOS by certain factions. This means that upon seeing you set foot in their lands, you will be immediately killed, maimed, and slaughtered. It's not really a pretty scenario, but that's the way the Faction System works. You're probably thinking that you can just avoid these places where you are flagged as KOS. Sure, but that would mean you'd be holed up in your little place, and where is the fun in that, right? Besides, you'd have to really travel and go to several places to complete important quests. So, the best thing to do is get into Faction Grinding. This would actually appeal to players who like to kill creatures because that's what faction grinding is all about.
But before you get into Faction Grinding, you'd have to know which races are marked as KOS in which areas. Here's a list.
Faction Home: Martok (home to Goblins and Orcs)
KOS: Half-Elf, Kojani Human, Raki, Wood Elf, Gnome, Mordebi Human, Qaliathari Human, Dwarf, Halfling, High Elf, Thestran Human

KOS: Dark Elf, Orc, Goblin, Kurashasa, Dwarf, Lesser Giant
Faction Home: Qur'xa (home to Kurashasa)

If you are KOS in certain places, make sure that you've improved your faction standing with them before you actually set foot in their place. Otherwise, you're in for an early death.
Here are some examples of faction grinding:
1) To gain faction in Khal (Qaliathari and Mordebi), you can kill lots of Ksaravi (whether rats, scorpiontamers, etc.). Harami Bandits are also good targets for faction grinding.
2) To gain faction in Mekalia (Gnomes), you can slay some Ulabenian miners and Tauthien Lizardmen
3) To gain faction in Bordinar's Cleft (Dwarves), you can slay Boulder Wildman Brute and Boulder Wildman
4) To gain faction in Hathor Zhi (Dark Elves), you can kill creatures in the Wildwood Forest
Faction Grinding is tough and requires a lot of work. You'd have to invest time to get better faction standing. Don't forget to check your progress by using the /showfaction command.
